Durga Pooja is celebrated in the month of Ashvin, and corresponds with Navratri. It is the main festival of Bengalees and celebrated with great fervour in Calcutta. Goddess Durga is believed to exist in many forms like Bhavani, Jagdamba, Mahakali etc. In some parts of India, the first three of the nine days of Navratri are devoted for worshipping Durga (Goddess of valor), next three days for Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) and the last three days for Sarswati (Goddess of Knowledge and Art).
